Science Clubs
Most primary and secondary schools run Science clubs outside of teaching hours, usually after school or during lunch hours. These science clubs are formed for pupils who are particularly interested in science to get involved with science and learn more. Also, many pupils who are struggling with their science classes or who need to catch up will attend Science clubs to help them progress.
Some school’s science clubs will focus on one particularly area of science such as biology or astronomy, science clubs with are intended as a fun extra curricular activity will generally just focus on one area. Science clubs that exist to help children who are falling behind in science catch up and learn will often offer them a general overview and pupils will be encourage to field questions about any areas of science they are struggling with.
School science clubs are typically run by volunteers. Teachers who run after school science clubs are usually not paid for it and simply organise these activities for the benefit of the pupils. In some schools outside volunteers will be brought in to help with the running of the science clubs, sometimes parents will volunteer their free time for this.
Science clubs all school pupils a chance to perform experiments they would not get a chance to during their lessons. This gives children who have a special interested in science to gain some more hands on experience by attending science clubs.
